Marquette University COC Website (Web Development)

My most comprehensive project for Marquette to date, I migrated the former Diederich College of Communication website to the university’s new Omniupdate, the university’s new content management system that is fully accessible. In addition to completing the website migration, I re-designed the website, writing custom HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

During the migration, I helped the IT department troubleshoot solutions to known and unknown bugs in the Omniupdate software. It was a rewarding project that further solidified the professional relationships I’ve built with colleagues in IT and the Office of Marketing and Communication.

Marquette Music Websites (Web Development)

Marquette Music Website

Through maintaining the Marquette Music websites, I am putting my skills in HTML, CSS and PHP to good use. However, I recognized that the music websites are in need of a refresh. I proposed to the director the idea of migrating the music websites to the OU campus system, which also houses the Diederich College of Communication website.

Once the migration project is completed in January, 2019, it will have the same look and feel of the Diederich College of Communicaiton website and be fully accessible for those who are vision and hearing impaired.

A sneak preview of one of the webpages for the revised music website is below.

The Urban Voice (WordPress Web Development)

Urban Voice Website

The Urban Journalism Workshop is a two-week intensive program for high school students who have an interest in journalism. Under the guidance of College of Communication faculty, the students learn to work as journalists and use video equipment to produce The Urban Voice. This is the online publication that features their written and video stories.

As the web developer for this project since the summer of 2018, I decided to pull together all previous publications that were created in Weebly and migrate them to WordPress. The result is a rich, interactive website that showcases the students’ talents. It is now easier for users to view past publications as well, rather than having them at separate website addresses.

You Can Learn How to Code (WordPress Website)

You Can Learn How to Code website

I started this WordPress website to encourage those who are struggling to learn computer programming skills to continue with their journeys. After writing a post on Quora about my challenges in learning JavaScript that went viral, I realized that others could benefit from learning web programming from the courses that helped me the most.

Given that there are thousands of courses and websites that teach JavaScript, PHP, Python and other web programming languages, I designed this website to cut through the noice and point students to a few choice courses that will set them on a path towards success.
